The Spider Street is not a single path,
but an entire ring of streets, alleys, bridges, and detours —
woven together like a net of false security.
It forms the first circle of Yarnakth, still outwardly functional —
with marketplaces, post offices, administrative bureaus —
and yet:
Nothing stays where it was.
House numbers contradict each other.
Street names occasionally swap meanings.
The baker in the morning sells ink by evening.
And no one knows where the parking meter is —
yet it issues tickets like spider threads.
“A good sense of direction here is like a rope that’s too short in a slime-filled labyrinth – it won’t help, but at least it keeps you occupied.”
Distinct Features:
Social Structure: The residents of Spider Street are known for being slightly disoriented, but exceptionally polite. They often speak in elliptical sentences, as if words were costly. Many work as detour experts, vanishing point adjusters, or in the Centre for Semantic Traffic Planning — which does not exist.
Connection to Fjharn’Zhûl: Some say threads from the deep tug at Spider Street — not strong enough to swallow people, but sufficient to distort their paths. On certain nights, shadows appear that don’t belong to passersby, but to decisions never made.
